Health Services (BS)

USF student practicing.

Be a leader in the healthcare industry.

A USF Health Services degree will prepare you to take on a leadership role in the thriving health care field — in as little as 2 years! Our curriculum blends healthcare management coursework with direct clinical experience, giving you a distinct advantage when you enter the work force.

Note: This program is designed for students who already have (or are working on) a health-related associate degree. We take your previous education into account!

USF graduates work as managers, educators, and advocates in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinical settings, and nursing homes.

Academic Plan

An academic plan is a general blueprint showing how one might complete the degree, semester by semester.

Professional Preparation & Practice

Our Health Services curriculum includes 24 hours of core courses in health services management and a 90-hour practicum. Students select a practicum site based on their area of interest and spend their final semester working alongside professionals.

Recent Practicum Sites include:

  • Lutheran Hospital and Health Network
  • Parkview Health
  • American Senior Communities
  • Summit Radiology
  • Turnstone Center
  • Steppin’ Up Physical Therapy
  • The Orthopedic Hospital
  • Adams Memorial Hospital
  • Southwest Surgical Suites
  • Dupont Hospital
  • Prevail Prosthetics and Orthotics
  • Townhouse Retirement Center
  • Fort Wayne Orthopedics, and more

I had a job lined up in my field before I even graduated. I was doing my internship at the agency and the president offered me a full-time position. I think that says a lot about the quality of USF.

Flexible & Convenient

The program’s flexible format lets you balance the demands of work, family, and education. All general education and health services courses are offered online (2/3 of the program). Practicums are arranged based on students’ interests and geographic needs.

Tailor your Degree

If you already hold an associate degree in the healthcare field, you can complete the Health Services bachelor’s in 2 years – completely online.

If you are enrolled in USF’s Radiologic Technology or Surgical Technology programs, you have the potential to earn both degrees in 3 years.

Expand your Options

I combined Surgical Technology with Health Services and earned my degree in 3 years. The flexibility of the online courses made it possible. As a result, I have more options for my career and can go into OR management and education positions.
