Why study certified nurse aid?

The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program at USF Crown Point will prepare you to begin your career as a health care professional. In just eight weeks, you’ll complete the classroom and clinical hours necessary to be eligible for certification by the Indiana State Department of Health. That means you’ll soon be able to begin caring for patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.

As a CNA, you’ll work closely with patients and be a vital member of the health care team. Because of the proximity with which you’ll work with patients, you will have the opportunity to observe and report on their status to a RN or LPN, playing a critical part in determining the best course of action regarding their care.

You’ll also have the opportunity for career advancement. After completion of the CNA program, you can easily transition into other healthcare professions such as nursing.

Like all courses offered by the University of Saint Francis, the classroom coursework, didactic laboratories and clinical experiences you complete in the CNA program will be taught from a foundation of Franciscan values. An active learning environment and values-based education will help you become one of the better-prepared, compassionate healthcare providers which USF is known.
