I grew up constantly playing with action figures and role-playing my favorite movie characters, and this is the ultimate version of that! Being able to take what’s in my imagination and put it out in the world for people to interact with is something I’m very lucky to be able to do.

USF’s Animation program blends art, creativity, and storytelling with digital technology — giving you the skills and connections needed to build a career in this growing field. Our program is structured to run like a professional animation studio, meaning you’ll start animating on day 1.

Throughout your time at USF, you’ll create professional quality animation and will graduate with an impressive portfolio of work.

Over the years, our program has developed a national presence in the growing animation industry. As a result, you’ll be connected to important people, events, and opportunities.

Travel —Each year, Animation students travel to Burbank, CA, where they:

  • Attend the annual Creative Talent Network Animation Expo — the industry’s top event for animation talent
  • Meet with professionals (including USF alumni) at Disney, DreamWorks, Pixar, Warner Brothers, & Blizzard.

Workshops & Webinars with professionals, including a critique by Disney feature film animator and USF alum Adam Green ’02 (animator for Frozen and Moana).

One thing that stands out is how much the professors care about the students — and that doesn’t end with graduation. They’re an ongoing resource of information, encouragement & opportunity. How You’ll Learn

Worried about sitting in front of a computer all day? You won’t be! You’ll be active as you learn a variety of skills, styles, and technology. Our curriculum includes coursework in:

  • 3-D computer animation
  • 2-D traditional and computer animation
  • Motion graphics
  • Multimedia design
  • Pre-visualization
  • Product development
  • Video game modeling and design
  • Visual effects for film and television

From Internship to Career

With the help and support of my professors, I was able to secure an internship at Fort Wayne Metals, which turned into a full-time position where I currently create 3D animations of processes and products.
