Why study Animation?

Are you interested in technology, computers, and video games? Do you have a creative urge to tell stories? A degree in Animation might be right for you.

USF’s Animation professors give you personalized feedback, and individual attention as you grow as an animator. Our practical classes and on-campus labs prepare you for a career doing what you love.

But, is it right for me?

We asked our professors, and they said animators:

  • Have the communication skills to work as a team
  • Can easily learn new technology
  • Use creativity and artistic talent

Skills You'll Obtain

Use computer programs and illustrations to create 2-D and 3-D animations

Work as a team to create movies, games, and visual effects in live video

Develop storyboards, and create character, environment, and architectural designs

Animation uses storytelling to build on the foundation of all other arts. Good animation only happens when we have a good understanding of art and a good community of artists. My goal is to create a community that eats, sleeps, and lives in art and animation.– Matt White, Animation Program Director
